We are proud to be involved as the builders of a new home which will be auctioned in 2011, from which profits will be donated to Cholmondeley home.
Sarah Barrer, Fundraising Team Leader for Cholmondeley explains:
Cholmondeley has been chosen as the recipient charity for a very exciting house build that Mitre10 Mega Ferrymead have initiated.
The concept of building a house and then auctioning it on site at the Ferrymead Mitre10 Mega premise will mean that the community is involved with the whole build process and also the fun activities and events that will happen during this intensive project!
The profit that is made from the auction will pay for a new kitchen at Cholmondeley and this will mean better facilities for Cholmondeley Home, as well as allowing Cholmondeley to create a child friendly food space for the children so that they can help create their own meals...sometimes!
This is a very special project and Cholmondeley is proud to have been selected.

Located down Cholmondeley Lane, overlooking the sea, Cholmondeley (Chum-ley) was formally opened on Saturday 7 March 1925. The land and purpose-built home were donated by Hugh Heber Cholmondeley as a memorial to his wife Margaret who had died unexpectedly on a visit home to England.
Cholmondeley is a place full of acceptance, caring and hope. Cholmondeley supports the children of Canterbury when their parents cannot. The children Cholmondeley cares for are aged between 3 and 12 years. They come from families with issues ranging from severe illness, substance abuse and addiction, even death of a parent.
Cholmondeley has been supporting the children of Canterbury for 85 years and Cholmondeley is very proud of the children that leave it's care. Some of the staff work 24/7 shifts and they are they relentless in their dedication and commitment to making a real difference to the future these children will have.
Cholmondeley is the only community based respite provider left in New Zealand and one of a few international facilities of its kind left. This makes Cholmondeley truly unique. This means that parents can contact Cholmondeley direct to ask for assistance. They don't have to go through any another social service provider or state provider.
Over the last 85 years Cholmondeley estimates it will have looked after around 25,000 children.
Cholmondeley is a genuine children's charity and has a bright future ahead of it!
